Detached homes in Lorne Park, Erin Mills and Streetsville have the usual ways in: foundation cracks, openings around utility lines and gaps under garage doors. A mouse can squeeze through a crack the size of a dime, and mice tend to move indoors in the fall as nights get colder. Traps deal with the mice already inside; sealing the gaps is what keeps more from following.

Bed bugs turn up in condos, apartments and private homes alike, and they often arrive on luggage, clothing, second-hand beds and furniture. Health Canada says they are not known to spread disease. In apartment and condo buildings, a neglected infestation is more likely to spread to other units, so a building job often means inspecting the units around the one known to have them. Every job starts with an inspection that maps where the bed bugs are hiding. Treatment then goes into the seams, folds and cracks that were found, and a follow-up visit deals with the eggs that hatch afterwards. You can book a one-time treatment with no contract. If you rent, Health Canada says to tell your landlord right away. If your landlord or property manager isn't dealing with pests in a rental building, you can report it to the City of Mississauga, whose officers check that rental buildings are kept free of pests.
Wasp Nest Removal in Mississauga
Yellowjacket colonies grow through the summer and are at their largest by late summer, when the workers need large amounts of sugar and can be quicker to defend a disturbed nest. That is why a nest nobody noticed in July becomes a problem at a Labour Day barbecue. Yellowjackets commonly nest underground in old rodent burrows, and sometimes inside wall and ceiling voids. Paper wasps hang open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves, in attics and under tree branches. If yellowjackets are flying in and out of a gap in an outside wall, do not plug it: if it is blocked, the wasps may find their way into the house instead. Colonies last only one season. New queens spend the winter under bark or in leaf litter and build new nests in spring, so an empty nest found in winter will not be used again.

German cockroaches live indoors, in apartments, restaurants and other buildings with kitchens, and gather where it is warm and damp: near dishwashers, stoves and sinks, and in bathrooms. An egg capsule holds 30 to 48 eggs and there can be three to four generations a year indoors, so a small population left alone over the winter is much larger by spring. In apartment buildings they spread between neighbouring units. A Rutgers University study of a New Jersey high-rise found that the apartments beside, across the hall from, and above or below an infested unit were likely to be infested too, and that a year of treating the whole building largely broke that pattern. For restaurants and other food businesses, Ontario's food premises regulation (O. Reg. 493/17) requires the premises to be protected against pests and pest-control records to be kept for at least a year, and Peel Public Health, which inspects food premises in Mississauga, posts its inspection results online.
