PEST CONTROL
Tick Control in Toronto & the GTA
Ticks carry Lyme disease and are increasingly common in Toronto and the GTA. Our targeted yard treatments create a protective barrier around your property, focusing on leaf litter, wood edges, and tall grass where ticks hide.
OUR APPROACH
How We Eliminate Ticks
Map the Habitat Edge
We walk the property and mark where maintained lawn meets unmanaged growth — leaf litter, tall grass, woodline, ravine brush. That transition zone is where ticks wait, and it is where treatment has to land.
Treat the Transition Zone
Application is targeted at the edge and the leaf litter rather than blanket-sprayed across open lawn. Ticks do not live in mown turf, so treating the whole yard wastes product without reducing risk.
Reduce the Habitat
We identify what is sustaining the population — accumulated leaf litter, woodpiles against the fence, ground cover along the tree line — and what changing it would do. Treatment plus habitat reduction outlasts treatment alone.
How to Identify Ticks
Ticks are small, flat, oval arachnids that swell considerably after feeding. Blacklegged ticks — the species that carries Lyme disease in Ontario — are dark brown to black and roughly the size of a sesame seed as adults, smaller still as nymphs.
Seasonal Behaviour in Ontario
Ticks are most active in spring and fall when temperatures sit between 4°C and 25°C, waiting in tall grass, leaf litter, and brush to latch onto a passing host. They don't jump or fly — they climb onto skin or clothing on contact.
DIY or Call a Professional?
Routine yard maintenance — mowing, clearing leaf litter, keeping woodpiles away from the house — reduces tick habitat but doesn't eliminate an established population. Properties backing onto ravines, wooded lots, or conservation areas benefit from a targeted professional yard treatment, especially if a tick has already been found on a person or pet.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Tick Control — Questions We Get
When should I treat for ticks in Ontario?
Spring and fall. Blacklegged ticks are most active when temperatures sit between 4°C and 25°C, so activity peaks either side of summer rather than in it. A spring application before the season builds is the most effective single treatment; properties backing onto ravine or woodland usually warrant both.
Do you need to treat my whole yard?
No, and treating the whole yard is generally the wrong approach. Ticks do not survive well in open, mown lawn — they concentrate in leaf litter, tall grass and brushy edges. Targeting that habitat edge reduces risk far more than a blanket application across turf.
